A practical way to think about this is to separate three questions: safety, repair capacity, and cost of staying.
Three questions
- Safety/respect: can you be honest without fear, coercion, or humiliation?
- Repair: when things break, do they get repaired — consistently — or do they repeat?
- Cost: if nothing changed for 12 months, what would it cost you (mental health, parenting, identity, time)?
If you want a structured set of prompts to work through this calmly, start with the checklist. If you want the full framework, get the guide.
